Established in 2015, the WBI Science and Technology Liaison Office for Canada is responsible for supporting research and innovation partnerships between the competitiveness clusters, research centres, universities and companies in Wallonia-Brussels and their counterparts in Canada. The Science and Technology Liaison Office was established in partnership with Montreal's Innovation District, the Ecole de Technologie Supérieure and McGill University.
The Science and Technology Liaison office:

Undertakes a science and technology monitoring in Canada in order to encourage collaboration with Wallonia-Brussels;

Supports the setup of R&I collaborative projects, in particular via the Horizon Europe programs, the European networks programs, Eureka/Eurostars but also, regional, provincial and national funding tools. The office actively support the the joint bilateral research programme between the Fonds de la recherche du Québec and the Fonds de la recherche scientifique (the National Fund for Scientific research) F.R.S.-FNRS;

Is in charge of the organisation of dedicated missions for researchers and entrepreneurs from Wallonia-Brussels in Canada and the reception of Canadian delegations in French-speaking Belgium;

Is responsible for the promotion of mobility programmes for researchers (particularly doctoral and post-doctoral students), for example via the between Wallonia-Brussels International and Mitacs.
