The Vice-president, and Minister of Culture, Media, Women's Rights, Childhood and Health of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Ms. Bénédicte Linard was in Quebec from March 8 to 11, 2023 for a mission focused on the themes of accessibility and sustainability of culture. Political meetings and exchanges of best practices with cultural operators and the media took place over three days in Quebec City and Montreal. The Minister had previously participated in the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York from March 5 to 7, 2023.
Ms. Linard began her stay by visiting the National Capital, where she met with Mayor Bruno Marchand. After a meeting on museum accessibility with the management of the Musée national des Beaux-Arts du Québec, she attended the opening of the exhibition SAKIFE: Women’s Health in Kivu at the National Assembly of Quebec, on the occasion of the International Women's Rights Day.
Her mission continued in Montreal under the themes of eco-responsibility, diversity and inclusion in the cultural milieu. Meetings were held with Ms. Ericka Alneus, Councillor responsible for culture at the City of Montreal, as well as with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) and the Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) and the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT] of Montreal. Minister Linard was also able to exchange best practices with various cultural organizations and initiatives with an ecoresponsible vocation, including Culture Montréal, the Conseil québécois des événements écoresponsables (CQEER), the Théâtre aux Écuries, the TransAmériques Festival, Écoscéno and La Tohu. She also met with Radio-Canada and the Laboratoire de recherche sur la découvrabilité et les transformations des industries culturelles à l'ère du commerce électronique (LATICCE) on the themes of discoverability, digital and inclusion.
